Sarah Kolstad Glass, member of a pioneer Palestine family, died Friday at her residence. Memorial services will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Harrison McLeod officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mrs. Glass was born July 30, 1912 in Palestine to Mr. and Mrs. Luckett Kolstad. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1929. She attended Hollins College in Roanoke, Va. and Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, La. where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Mrs. Glass worked for several years on the staff of the Palestine Herald-Press and later at Kolstad Jewelers.
Her parents, Luckett Kolstad and Carrie Irby Kolstad; and her sister, Freddie Louise Hopgood preceded Mrs. Glass in death. She also was preceded in death by her husbands, William J. Montgomery, Ned B. Morris Jr., and William A. Glass Jr.
Mrs. Glass was a lifelong member of St. Philip’s where she was actively involved in many parish organizations. She was a charter member of Harvey Woman’s Club.
She is survived by her brothers, C.L. Kolstad Jr., of Palestine and Tom Irby Kolstad of Wilsonville, Ore.; nephew C.L. Kolstad III and niece Katherine Kolstad Stites; and numerous nephews, nieces and stepchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sarah Kolstad Glass Memorial Fund at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 106 East Crawford St., Palestine, Texas 75801; or the Palestine Public Library Memorial Fund, 1101 N. Cedar St. Palestine, Texas 75801.
