Local Masonic and graveside services for Elbert J. Summers, Jr., 74 of Houston and formerly of Palestine will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in New Addition Cemetery with the Rev. Clay Piatt officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Summers died Sunday in Houston following a brief illness.

He was born in Palestine on August 24, 1911, a son of Elbert J. and Bess Bailey Summers. At the time of his death, he was associated with a Houston car dealership. He was a graduate of Palestine High School and Texas A & M University.

Local survivors include brothers, F. Bailey Summers and Alfred H. Summers, both of Palestine.
