Julia Lee Smith

Services for Julia Lee Smith, 92, of Palestine will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Park with the Rev. Michael Mynatt officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Miss Smith died Sunday at Cartmell Home for Aged.  She was born March 2, 1911 in Palestine to Edward Smith and Eliza Crawford Smith.

Miss Smith was a member of the First Christian Church for 50 years. She was a teacher for 44 years and during that time taught at Nixon’s Business College, Woodhouse, Neches and Palestine High School. She also was a real estate agent.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Malcom Smith; and cousin, Sam Jackson.

Miss Smith is survived by cousins, Bonnie Bess Gremore of Whitebear, Minn. and J.W. Gremore of Colorado.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Youngblood, Charlie Harper, L.L. Davis, Don Harris, Joe Darrington, J.W. Box and all former co-teachers.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
