Services for Ann Broughton Pritchett, 81, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne Rhodes and Weldon Morton officiating. Burial will be at Strong Memorial Park in Slocum.

Mrs. Pritchett died Monday in Villa Inn Nursing Center. She was born March 26, 1910 in Palestine, a daughter of Z. Broughton and Laura Ella Camp Broughton.

She was a graduate of Palestine High School, and also attended Sam Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville.

Her career included teaching, all phases of office/clerical work and accounting. She worked at the Baytown Sun as chief accountant and office manager from 1949 until retirement in 1975.

Mrs. Pritchett was a member of the William Findley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; United Daughters of the Confederacy; Palestine Chapter No. 395 Order of the Eastern Star; Harvey Woman’s Club; Palestine Newcomers Club; Palestine Iris Society; and Anderson County Timber Growers Association.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, H.B. Broughton and V.H. Broughton.

Mrs. Pritchett is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Wilson Pritchett of Palestine; sisters, Celeste Broughton Phillips of Houston, Tiny Broughton Gatewood of Whitehouse and Eloise Broughton Wyatt of Palestine; and a brother, Herbert G. Broughton of Palestine.

Pallbearers will be Giles Upton, Victor Lively, Morris Gatewood, Robert Gatewood, Darrell May and Floyd R. Carlisle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Palestine, or to an organization of choice.

Condolence calls will be received from 6 – 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
