Services for Maurice Carlton Cooper Sr., 96, of Palestine, will be at 11 a.m. today at Chapel of the Air at Land of Memory Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mr. Cooper died Thursday at his residence.

He was born September 21, 1909, in Houston to John Carl and Mary Ann Hull Cooper.

Mr. Cooper had resided in Palestine since March 1910, where he retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad after 46 years of service and was a member of First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Maurice C. Cooper Jr.; his parents; brother, Raymond Cooper; and sisters, Mary Catherine Huffman and Dorenda Rumple.

Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife, Mary Isabell Seafers Cooper of Palestine; and sister, Laura Louise Whisman of Arlington.

Visitation will be held before the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today at the funeral home.
