Funeral services for Mrs. Helen DuPree Morton, 54 will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Hassell & Joster Chapel with Dr. Robert L. Badgett officiating. Burial will follow in New Addition Annex.
Native and lifelong resident of Palestine, Mrs. Morton was born December 8, 1008. For many years she served as secretary in the principal’s office at Palestine High School, and at the time of her death was an intermittent employee of Anderson County Local Board No. 1.
Member of the First Christian Church, she was also a member of the Xi Gamma Xi Chapter, Beta Sigma phi. She died Tuesday about 8 p.m. following a sudden illness. She was the widow of the late Myron (Mel) Morton who died in December 1945.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs. Mae DuPree of Palestine; two brothers, Bill DuPree of Kanes City, and Jack DuPree of Austin; and several nieces and nephews including Miss Jan DuPree and Dale DuPree, both of Karnes City.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Craddock, M.D. Stewart, Buck Crutcher, Ted Maffitt, Bonner Frizzell and Henry Grigsby.
The body will be at Hassell & Foster Funeral Home.
