    Born 01-23-1938
    Died 09-08-2009
    Age  71
    1955 Charlotte Rosson

Our dearly loved wife, mother, and grandmother, also lovingly known as “Nana” Charlotte Sue Rosson Francis passed away Tuesday, September 8th at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

She brought delight, joy and warmth to everyone who knew her. Her sense of humor and ready welcome always made friends feel at ease and happy in her presence. Her generous heart filled her home with unconditional love.

Charlotte was born in Palestine, Texas in 1938, a beloved only child to Clarence Rosson and Alma Fortson Rosson.

She met her future husband at the age of 12, while playing football in the lot next to her house. When they graduated from high school, Charlotte went to college and Jerry to the Army. While stationed in Germany, Jerry had his mother deliver his proposal and engagement ring to Charlotte. The year she received her teaching degree from Stephen F. Austin in 1958 was the year she married the love of her life. She and Jerry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008 in a joyous celebration with family and friends.

She taught high school for 25 years until her retirement in 1997 after touching so many lives. She stayed in touch with many friends and students she met while teaching in the Needville and Neches schools.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her father and mother.

She leaves behind those she loved best, her husband Jerry Francis; her children, Lisa Francis Zator of Palestine, Leslie Francis Chase and husband Scot of Bellaire and Matthew Rosson Francis of Livingston; her grandchildren, Frank Zator and Jerry Zator and wife Tonya, all of Palestine, Austin Chase, Sidney Chase, and Chance Chase; her great-grandsons, Travis Zator and Trevor Zator and many dear friends. She leaves her husband and family knowing they were truly loved.

A memorial celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 3 p.m. at Bailey and Foster Chapel, Palestine.

Your love never failed or faltered. You made each of us feel special and dearly loved. You kept us in line, gave us “The Look”, warned us when we were about to make a mistake, but never once, did you ever say “I Told You So”, even when we deserved it.

Your laughter and smile will never leave our memories, and we will love you forever.

Travels Traced on Former Chatter Editor

Who would ever guess that Chatter editors could amount to anything but something big? Tuesday Paul Hinkle, Chatter Editor of 1956, visited old haunts, including the Chatter room, while on a leave of absence from his job in the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Distinguished is certainly one word for Paul's background. He graduated as Valedictorian of PHS in 1956. He has attended the University of Texas, St. Edwards University, and Notre Dame, from which he graduated in 1960.

Paul declined to give a word of advice to high school success seekers, saying that too much advice has already been given by too many people, and that the high school student has to find the key that will fit. Philosophy, incidentally, was Paul's major at Notre Dame.

Paul is the son of Mrs. Evelyn Hinkle of Palestine, and the late Paul Hinkle.
